European Action Day 5 February
Strong industries and good industrial jobs are the bedrock of a stable and prosperous Europe.
Urgent action is needed now!
Europe’s industrial crisis is deepening. Jobs are disappearing and factories are closing, but political action remains too slow and fragmented. Industrial workers across Europe are coming together to raise their voices and demand urgent change.
Industrial workers are mobilizing on 5 February to send a strong message to European leaders who will meet in the European Council to decide the direction of European industry, workers are mobilising in Brussels and in their home countries.
Our 6 Demands:
- Real investment in Europe’s industries
We need strong public and private investment to build green, resilient, and social industries that deliver quality jobs for the future. - Protect local jobs with public support
Use social and local content conditionalities on all public support to industry, including in public procurement, to secure investment in sites. - Strong job protection to save industries
We need effective job-saving tools, like the SURE programme during the pandemic, to give workers economic security in volatile times. - Fair plans for a Just Transition
Industrial transformation must come with concrete industrial and labour market planning plans, social dialogue, and support for workers, so no one is left behind. - Stop unfair global competition
Europe must act against unfair trade practices and global overcapacity that undermine our industries and jobs.
Affordable, clean energy for industry
Industry needs access to affordable, clean energy to stay competitive, protect jobs, and meet climate goals.
