Fight for better workers' rights, against precarious work, and more decent jobs

The congress paid a tribute to the outgoing leaders : Berthold Huber, Jyrki Raina, Fernando Lopes and Monika Kemperle for their strong engagement and commitment during the first four years of this organisation. A new leadership team was elected : Jörg Hofmann (President IG Metall – Germany) and Valter Sanches (Brazil) were elected as President and General Secretary for the next four years. They will get the support of Kemal Ozkan (Turkey), Atle Hoie (Norway) and Jenny Holdcroft (Australia) as Assistant General Secretaries.

Main priorities for the next four years will be : building trade union power, sustainable industrial policies, defending workers' rights, fight against global capital and stop precarious work.

IndustriAll Europe congratulates the new leadership team. Luc Triangle, General Secretary industriAll Europe, declared to industriALL Global colleague Valter Sanches : "IndustriAll Europe will stand side-by-side with its global sister organisation in the fight for better workers' rights, against precarious work, and more decent jobs, both in Europe and worldwide. Trade union federations can make a difference. Together we organise millions of workers in Europe and throughout the world. We will join forces and coordinate our capacities to make a difference within Europe and on global scale".
