In January, Nexans announced its intention to reorganise its activities in Europe with the aim of saving €210 million over 3 years.

This is the latest in a series of restructuring that have taken place in the last decade. No less than 939 direct jobs in 6 countries as well as the Hanover plant in Germany are put at risk with this reorganisation.

On Wednesday 24th April, at an extraordinary meeting of the European Works Council (EWC), the EWC delegates representing all workers in Europe will deliver their opinion to the company about its planned restructuring.

The question is whether the company will hear their concerns and take their opinion into account before reaching its final decision.

On the occasion of that extraordinary EWC meeting, the trade unions and workers from several European countries will hold a rally in front of the company’s headquarters to say stop to this new wave of restructuring.

industriAll Europe supports their concerns and urges the company to provide full clarity on a long-term industrial project which will prevent further slashing of jobs and closing down of sites while at the same time securing the capacities of all sites.

industriAll Europe calls on all trade union organisations present in Nexans to mobilise in order to show our solidarity to all employees affected by this new redundancy plan and our concerns about the strategies being pursued by Nexans. Luis Colunga, Deputy General Secretary of industriAll Europe will attend the rally.
