All human beings are equal in dignity and rights
The UN is this year focusing on mitigating and countering rising nationalist populism and extremist ideologies which are fueling fueling racism, discrimination and xenophobia around the world.
IndustriAll Europe's manifesto for the 2019 European elections expresses concern about the "rising sentiments of populism, xenophobia and nationalism."
And it calls explicitly for a Europe that "promotes fair and inclusive societies that are open, respectful, diverse and do not discriminate."
IndustriAll European general secretary Luc Triangle said:
"The fight against racism is a founding principle of our organisation. All human beings are equal in dignity and rights. We reject and condemn any forms of discrimination based on race, sex, language, religion, political opinion or origin.
"Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person. Human beings and workers are equal and must have equal access to education, social protection and a quality job."
